Youtube is making violence more readily available.
On December 2nd, 2019, Youtube announced a policy change that will affect certain age restrictions on the platform. “Scripted or simulated content” will now be treated the same way as violence in Television and movies. Moving forward, this means that age restrictions on most gaming videos will now be accessible to people of a younger age.
On Monday, Team Youtube tweeted,
“Starting today, scripted or simulated violence in video games will be treated the same as violence in other scripted content like movies & TV. This means future gaming uploads w/ scripted or simulated violence may get approved instead of age-restricted.”
This change affects the younger generation viewers the most. With issues currently going on in the United States, one must wonder if this is the right move for youtube to be making. Do you agree with YouTube’s decision? Let us know in the comments below.
